This page will serve as a guide for all players looking for information on proper wheels, bearings and chassis.
If after reading you still are confused or need assistance, please feel free to contact Kerry at 774-275-0673
****IMPORTANT - Elite uses a sportcourt flooring for its leagues. Be sure you have the proper wheels for this. OUTDOOR wheels as well as wheels listed as Indoor/Outdoor will not work on our surface.
WHEELS - Wheels come in different "SIZES" and also in different "DUROMETER"
SIZES - wheels are listed with a number with "mm" next to it. Most frames/chassis have these listed on them. Smaller skates use smaller wheels.
The size of the wheels depends on the Chassis/frame/wheel holders on the skate.
Wheel Set Up Examples - ADULT 80mm back two,76mm front two. Youth Smaller skates example 72mm back two wheels, 68mm front two wheels (Some brands may diifer but these are the normal setups {LEAGUE will help with any issues with all this if any questions}
CHASSIS (frame/wheel holders) Most skates have a Hi-Lo setup which means that the front two wheels are smaller in size than the rear two wheels allowing for a more "Ice skate" pitch in the boot with the Back two wheels being 4mm larger than the front two wheels.
example on chassis -Adult skate - 80mm80mm76mm76mm Youth skate 72mm/72mm 68mm/68mm or smaller {LEAGUE will help with all this if any questions}
Or ... they are straight frames (which all 4 wheels are the same size)
DUROMETER - is listed with either a number (with and "A" next to it) or- it will say "x-soft, soft, Indoor/outdoor, or Hard / outdoor/asphaltconcrete etc
Durometer Guide for players - equivalence of labels below - as different companies use either wording or a number with "A" for wheel softness/hardness
* 74A ="xsoft"- players weight up to 175lbs Very grippy xsoft wheel
* 76A = "soft" players weight betweem 165 & 210lbs Slightly grippy soft wheel
Numbers higher than this will not work very well unless the player wight is higher than 250lbs -
~ Wheels listed as INDOOR OUTDOOR will not work. This will result in a bad experince for the player and not give a full accurate ice skate grab to the surface. It can turn a players interest AWAY from Inline and we dont want that.
BEARINGS - if needed.
Bearing Sizes are listed as (608),
Bearing Types most bearings are abec rated. Abec ratings are 3,5,7 & 9 (higher calibur = higher # = higher cost), there are higher calibur bearings such as titanium bearings, swiss bearings, and ceramic bearings. Quality comes with a price and those bearings are reccomended for the Elite / pro levels.
